Silkscreen Printing for Beginners Tutor:- John Sargeaunt 23rd January 2010
The course in action You will learn how to handle screens and waterbased inks to produce marks on paper, This will include experimenting with cut and torn paper stencils, found shapes, waterbased crayons and paints to stop out areas of the screen. You will use the squeegee or card to apply the ink and you will also experiment with inks of varying transparancy to discover what exciting marks can be made when overlaying different colours. You will then work on a design of your own using the knowledge you have gained during the first part of the course Technical notes and necessary materials will be provided but it would be helpful to bring some broad ideas for for your final design. John Sargeaunt
John started printing in the 60's and was soon captivated by the ability of screen printing to deliver strong colour images. Since then he has explored several other print mediums such as acid and solar etching but has returned to the screen and now adds a painterly approach to the medium
