The Roller Press for Intaglio printing

Etching press

A modern Novrup roller press manufactured by Tolfco in Denmark.
Exerts the high pressures necessary for intaglio printing such as etching, acquatint and engraving.
The intaglio technique uses flat metal plates into which a design is incised. Ink is then worked into the incisions, the surface is wiped clean and a damp paper is placed on the plate and then pressed into the incisions where the ink has been retained. This can produce designs with fine lines.
At the workshop this press is also be used for collographs and new forms of etching such as safe and solar
